Non-HA Based Injectables in Singapore

If you’re considering facial rejuvenation beyond traditional hyaluronic acid fillers, non-HA based injectables offer a different approach to addressing volume loss and skin quality concerns. These treatments aim to stimulate your body’s natural collagen production rather than simply adding volume, providing gradual improvements. Individual results and timelines may vary.

Non-HA based injectables encompass various biostimulatory treatments that may trigger your skin’s regenerative processes. Available at aesthetic clinics in Singapore, these treatments are performed by qualified aesthetic doctors who can assess your specific needs and discuss suitable options. These procedures are carried out as part of a personalised treatment plan supervised by a medical professional.

What are Non-HA Based Injectables?

Non-HA based injectables are aesthetic treatments that use materials other than hyaluronic acid to improve facial volume, skin quality, and overall appearance. Unlike traditional HA fillers that provide immediate volume through gel-like substances, these injectables work primarily as biostimulators – substances that may encourage the body to produce its own collagen and elastin.

The main types include poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), polycaprolactone (PCL), and polynucleotide-based treatments. Each works through different mechanisms that aim to stimulate tissue regeneration. These treatments may help address volume loss and improve skin texture, thickness, and overall quality over time.

Results from non-HA based injectables may develop gradually over several months as the body builds new collagen. This natural progression can create subtle improvements. The effects may last varying durations, depending on the specific product and individual factors.

Who is a Suitable Candidate?

Potential Candidates

  • Adults experiencing facial volume loss
  • Individuals seeking gradual improvements
  • Patients want results that may last longer than traditional fillers
  • Those with good overall health and realistic expectations
  • People looking to improve skin quality alongside volume restoration
  • Individuals who prefer collagen stimulation over direct volumisation
  • Patients seeking preventive anti-ageing approaches

Contraindications

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Active skin infections or inflammation at treatment sites
  • History of keloid scarring or abnormal wound healing
  • Autoimmune conditions affecting connective tissue
  • Known allergies to treatment components
  • Recent facial surgery or other invasive procedures
  • Unrealistic expectations about results or timeline

A thorough consultation with an aesthetic doctor is essential to determine your suitability for non-HA based injectables. Your medical history, skin condition, and aesthetic goals will all factor into the recommendation for the most appropriate treatment option.

Treatment Techniques & Approaches

Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) Treatments

PLLA-based injectables stimulate fibroblasts to produce new collagen over time. The product is reconstituted into a liquid suspension and injected into deeper skin layers. This treatment may help address facial volume loss in the temples, cheeks, and jawline. Results develop gradually, and duration varies by individual.

Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) Injectables

CaHA treatments use microspheres suspended in a gel carrier to provide immediate volume and long-term collagen stimulation. The calcium particles act as a scaffold for new tissue growth, whilst the gel provides instant correction. This dual action makes it suitable for deeper wrinkles, facial contouring, and hand rejuvenation. The biostimulatory effects continue even after the gel carrier is absorbed.

Polycaprolactone (PCL) Based Treatments

PCL injectables utilise biodegradable microspheres that stimulate collagen production whilst providing structural support. These treatments offer extended duration among biostimulators. PCL may help with overall facial rejuvenation and can be diluted for different treatment areas and objectives.

Technology & Equipment Used

Modern injection techniques employ various needle sizes and cannulas to ensure precise product placement. Some clinics use ultrasound guidance for deeper injections, whilst others rely on anatomical landmarks and manual palpation. Proper reconstitution equipment and sterile techniques are essential for optimal results and safety.

The Treatment Process

Stage Process
Pre-Treatment Preparation Before your appointment, avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements for 5-7 days as advised by your doctor. Arrive with clean skin, free from makeup or skincare products. Your doctor will review your medical history and discuss your treatment goals. Some treatments require reconstitution time, so arrive early for your appointment. Photographs may be taken from multiple angles to document your baseline appearance. Your doctor will mark injection points and explain the treatment plan. A topical anaesthetic cream may be applied before the procedure to enhance comfort.
During the Procedure The injection process typically takes time, depending on the treatment areas. Your doctor will cleanse the skin with an antiseptic solution before beginning. Using fine needles or cannulas, the product is injected at specific depths and locations according to your treatment plan. You may feel slight pressure or mild discomfort during injections. Your doctor may massage certain areas to help with product distribution. Ice packs can be applied between injection sites to help minimise discomfort and reduce swelling.
Immediate Post-Treatment After treatment, you’ll remain in the clinic for observation. Mild swelling, redness, or bruising at injection sites is normal. Your doctor will provide specific aftercare instructions, including any massage techniques required for certain products.

You can usually resume normal activities immediately, though strenuous exercise should be avoided. Makeup can typically be applied after a few hours if needed. Any initial volume from the carrier substance will subside within days, with results developing over the following months.

Recovery & Aftercare

First 24-48 Hours

Apply ice packs intermittently to reduce swelling and discomfort. Sleep with your head elevated to minimise fluid accumulation. Avoid touching or massaging treated areas unless specifically instructed. Some products may require specific massage protocols that your healthcare professional will demonstrate.

Stay hydrated and avoid alcohol, which can increase bruising. Gentle cleansing is fine, but avoid harsh products or exfoliation. Minor swelling or firmness at injection sites is expected and will resolve naturally.

First Week

Swelling and any bruising typically peak before improving. Continue avoiding strenuous exercise, saunas, and extreme temperatures. Follow any specific massage instructions provided for your treatment type – some products may require daily massage whilst others should not be manipulated.

Attend your follow-up appointment if scheduled. Your healthcare professional will assess the treatment areas and provide guidance on ongoing care. Normal activities can typically be resumed during this period.

Long-term Recovery

The results of non-HA based injectables may develop gradually as collagen production increases. During this time, you may notice progressive improvements in skin quality and facial contours. Maintain a good skincare routine to support the treatment results.

Follow-up treatments may be recommended to achieve desired results. Once results are achieved, maintenance treatments may be needed, depending on the product used and individual response.

Our aesthetic doctors provide comprehensive post-procedure support. Schedule your consultation to learn more about what to expect.

Benefits of Non-HA Based Injectables

Non-HA based injectables may offer certain characteristics for facial rejuvenation. The gradual collagen stimulation can create natural-looking results that may improve over time, potentially avoiding sudden changes sometimes associated with traditional fillers. Some patients may appreciate this gradual transformation that aims not to dramatically alter their appearance overnight.

The duration of results is another characteristic, with effects that may last varying periods depending on the product and individual factors. This could potentially reduce the frequency of maintenance treatments compared to HA fillers. These treatments may help improve skin quality, thickness, and texture – potential benefits that extend beyond simple volume replacement.

These injectables may also provide structural support to facial tissues, potentially helping to address volume loss and sagging. The collagen stimulation may continue even after the product is metabolised, potentially creating improvements in skin architecture. For some patients, this may represent a comprehensive approach to facial ageing.

Individual results and timelines may vary. This treatment is administered as part of a comprehensive plan supervised by a healthcare professional.

Risks & Potential Complications

Common Side Effects

Injection site reactions, including swelling, redness, and bruising, may occur in patients and typically resolve. Some patients may experience mild tenderness or firmness at treatment sites that can persist. Temporary bumps or nodules may be felt under the skin, particularly with PLLA treatments, but these may resolve with massage.

Asymmetry or uneven results can occur initially but may improve as swelling subsides and collagen production progresses. Some patients may experience mild itching or tightness as the skin remodels.

Rare Complications

Infection at injection sites requires prompt medical attention. Granuloma formation – small inflammatory nodules – can occur after treatment but may respond to appropriate management. Vascular occlusion represents a serious complication requiring immediate intervention.

Product migration or late-onset swelling may occur in some cases. Allergic reactions are possible. Choosing an experienced aesthetic doctor who understands facial anatomy and proper injection techniques may help reduce these risks. Proper patient selection and adherence to treatment protocols may help minimise complications.

Cost Considerations

The cost of non-HA based injectable treatments varies based on several factors. The specific product chosen affects pricing, as does the number of vials or syringes required for your treatment goals. Treatment areas and the extent of correction needed influence the total investment.

Initial treatment series may require multiple sessions, which should be factored into your budget planning. The duration of results compared to traditional fillers can vary by individual. The price typically includes the product, professional fees, and follow-up consultations.

Quality should be a primary consideration when choosing your provider. Aesthetic doctors with experience and training in injectable techniques can provide safe and effective treatments when performed correctly. During your consultation, you’ll receive a personalised plan with pricing based on your individual needs. Individual results and treatment requirements may vary.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do non-HA based injectables differ from regular dermal fillers?

Non-HA based injectables work by stimulating your body’s collagen production rather than adding immediate volume like traditional HA fillers. Results develop gradually and may last longer than some alternatives. These treatments aim to improve overall skin quality and thickness while providing enhancement.

How many treatment sessions will I need?

Treatment requirements vary by individual. Some patients may require multiple initial treatment sessions. The exact number depends on your age, degree of volume loss, and aesthetic goals. Once desired results are achieved, maintenance treatments may be needed.

*Individual results and timelines may vary.*

When will I see results from non-HA based injectables?

Initial improvements may be visible as collagen production begins. Results typically develop gradually as your body continues building new collagen. This gradual improvement can create natural-looking results.

*Individual results and timelines may vary.*

Can non-HA based injectables be combined with other treatments?

These injectables can be combined with various aesthetic treatments when properly spaced. Some patients combine them with botulinum toxin, laser treatments, or HA fillers for comprehensive facial rejuvenation. Your aesthetic doctor will create a treatment plan that safely incorporates multiple modalities based on your needs.

Are the results from non-HA based injectables reversible?

Unlike HA fillers, non-HA based injectables cannot be dissolved with enzymes. Results are temporary as your body gradually metabolises the product. Any concerns about results should be discussed with your doctor, who can recommend appropriate management strategies.

What areas can be treated with non-HA based injectables?

These injectables can treat various facial areas including temples, cheeks, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and jawline. Some products are also suitable for neck, décolletage, and hand rejuvenation. Your doctor will assess your concerns and recommend appropriate treatment areas based on the specific product characteristics.

How do I choose between different non-HA based injectable options?

The choice depends on your specific concerns, timeline expectations, and treatment goals. Different products offer varying approaches to volume restoration and correction. Your aesthetic doctor will recommend the most suitable option after assessing your skin condition and discussing your preferences.

Conclusion

Non-HA based injectables represent an advanced approach to facial rejuvenation that goes beyond simple volume replacement. By stimulating the body’s natural collagen production, these treatments may offer gradual improvements in both facial contours and skin quality. Whether addressing early signs of ageing or restoring facial volume, these biostimulatory treatments aim to provide natural-looking results that enhance your overall appearance.

The key to achieving the best outcomes lies in choosing a qualified aesthetic doctor who can assess your individual needs and recommend the most appropriate treatment plan. With proper patient selection and technique, non-HA based injectables may be a safe option for those seeking facial rejuvenation.
