Types of Skin Boosters in Singapore
A range of skin booster formulations are available, each developed to enhance hydration and support the skin’s overall condition:
Hyaluronic Acid–Based Formulations
These formulations deliver hyaluronic acid into the skin’s deeper layers and are typically injected using clinically established techniques. Some types are formulated to spread more easily, requiring fewer injection points.
Stabilised Hyaluronic Acid with Local Anaesthetic
This type includes a small amount of local anaesthetic to reduce discomfort during treatment. Its smooth texture allows for even placement within the skin.
Hyaluronic Acid for Thinner Skin or Delicate Areas
Lower-concentration products are used in areas such as the under-eye region to provide targeted hydration for more delicate skin.
Polynucleotide-Based Formulations
Polynucleotide-based formulations contain DNA fragments and are often selected to improve skin texture in individuals showing early signs of ageing.
Combination Formulas (Polynucleotides and Hyaluronic Acid)
Some products combine hydrating and regenerative components and may be considered when both surface hydration and deeper skin support are desired.
What to Expect During a Skin Booster Treatment
Each session is carried out under medical guidance, with steps in place to ensure comfort, safety, and precision throughout the procedure.
Cleansing
The skin is thoroughly cleansed with an antiseptic solution to minimise the risk of infection. All makeup, oils, and impurities are removed from the treatment area.
Topical anaesthesia (optional)
A numbing cream may be applied to sensitive areas and left in place for 15-20 minutes. This helps reduce discomfort during the injection process, particularly for patients with lower pain thresholds.
Marking injection points
The aesthetic dermatologist may mark the strategic injection points on your skin with a washable marker. This ensures uniform distribution of the product and targets areas requiring the most attention.
Injection technique
Using either a fine needle or cannula, the skin booster solution is precisely administered into the dermis layer.
Product distribution
After injection, the aesthetic dermatologist may gently massage the area to ensure even distribution of the product. This step supports even product distribution within the intended area and helps prevent surface irregularities.
Final cleansing
The skin is cleansed again, and a cold compress may be applied to reduce immediate swelling and discomfort. Any markings are removed, and a light, non-comedogenic moisturiser may be applied.
