What is Vascular and Redness Laser Treatment?
Vascular and redness laser treatment is a non-invasive procedure that uses targeted light energy to address visible blood vessels and persistent skin redness. The treatment works through selective photothermolysis: specific wavelengths of light are absorbed by haemoglobin (the red pigment in blood) within the targeted vessels.
When the laser energy is absorbed, it converts to heat, damaging the vessel walls. This causes the treated blood vessels to coagulate and collapse. Over the following weeks, your body’s natural processes gradually absorb and eliminate these damaged vessels, which may result in reduced visibility of the treated areas in suitable candidates.
This treatment addresses various vascular concerns, including:
- Spider veins (telangiectasia) on the face and legs
- Facial redness and flushing
- Rosacea-related vascular changes
- Port wine stains and other vascular birthmarks
- Cherry angiomas (small red spots)
- Broken capillaries around the nose and cheeks
- Post-inflammatory redness from acne or injuries
Modern laser systems allow practitioners to target problematic vessels whilst preserving surrounding healthy tissue. Results depend on your unique anatomy and health status, as well as the type, size, and depth of the vascular concern.
